Building a Legacy

Most of us waltz through life and never really think about what kind of legacy we want to leave behind. You might be asking yourself, well what exactly do you mean by legacy? Here it is. How do you want people to remember you? What will people think of when you’re no longer around? These are just a few questions to ask yourself when talking about what type of legacy you want to leave behind. Because, here’s the thing when you’re no longer around on this earth, people will forget about how much money you made, or what you did for a living, but more so of how you made “them feel as human beings.”

This is a question I ask myself on a continuous basis of what type of legacy I want to leave behind, and how I want to be remembered. An important question to consider when you’re building your life and growing as a person. When I hear others talk about people they were once close to that are no longer around, I always hear stories of how that person affected someone in a positive light. Your legacy could be tarnished in a second, that’s why you always hear that first impressions are really important when walking into any setting. People remember first impressions for years, always make it good. It’s a work in progress. But I always ask myself what type of intention do I want to set when meeting new people, and how would I want to be remembered when I leave any social setting. Be interested, not interesting.

Build a legacy. Be remembered. Make a lasting impression when you’re around people. Make others feel important. Make others feel loved. Create connection with people. Listen to others. Donate your time. Have fun. Be in the present.

These are the things that build legacy.
